“Close to downtown Ellicottville”

“Upon approaching the lodge, we were appalled at the condition of the building. It was run down and the landscaping needed attention. We were also very surprised to read a note on the outside of room saying that all Finger Lakes Lodging guests must register at the Mirbeau Inn & Spa down the road. We did as the note requested and went down to the spa. I wasn't very far away. Upon approaching the front desk I was asked how I was today. I said very disappointed in the condition of the building...

“I like that they had a boat there to run out and it wasn’t very expensive and it was nice”

“Our air-conditioner was broke in our room and had move rooms then the next room the air-conditioner was leaking. The staff was welcoming and professional. They were the reason our trip was nice.”

“Lodge style accommodation. No A/C or ceiling fan, so the room was a bit stuffy for sleeping. Rear window screen was broken, so could only use the front and bathroom windows for ventilation. Room was clean, provided shampoo but no conditioner. Bed and pillows okay. Probably would not stay here again during warm months due to lack of a/c or ceiling fan.”

“It was a real treat to stay at the Balsam Inn! The Inn is off the beaten path like I wanted and very very quite. Jenny is a warm welcoming host. She even upgraded my room just because it was available. The room itself was beautiful! It felt like I was a guest in someones Adirondack mountain home. The sunsets are truly incredible, and the overall atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. The front yard has a lot of charm and potential, though the grass was noticeably overgrown during my stay. “owner questioned who said we could bring our dog, said they were not notified by hotels.com and commented that the room we were in was not dog friendly, but being we have a small dog, left us alone. stated that they would have to over clean the bedspread due to alergies of future patrons, got the impression that blankets and bedspreads were not cleaned often. pool was not heated as signs and website says. no charcoal grill for our usage. no staff to be found, owner was just driving around on...
