There are two types of floats in The Gion Matsuri Parade, Yama and Hoko. There are 23 Yama and 10 Hoko. The Hoko floats can be up to 25 meters tall and weigh up to 12 tons.

"This hotel is only a few step away from the Main Street and malls. It is very convenient and also quiet enough to rest. Mind you the hotel is beside a temple and its graveyard, if you don’t mind that. The design of the hotel is modern and cool. It also has a nice public bath. Breakfast was great with nice main course and half buffet. I am satisfied to stay here. "

"Loved this hotel. Bed was comfortable. Room was a good size, was soundproof and had a blackout blind. Slept brilliantly every night. Heating was good during the cold weather. The private baths were a bonus which I made good use of to ease my aching feet each night. Great that you can check how crowded it is from your room, who knew midnight was a popular time! Handy to have the family mart connected to hotel and aa starbucks next door. Note, it is a bit far out if you like any nightlife but the buses are very easy to get to other areas of the city. "
