"The room was surprisingly large for a nyc hotel and that was nice but the whole floor smelt a bit musty which was off putting. Staff were very nice but the line to check in was long.
And after spending $800+ dollars staying there it really ticked me off to be charged $20 to store our luggage. Not a great way to end your guest relationship. Never been charged to store luggage before."
"Less noisy than expected in NY. Beware the rooms have connecting doors. Safe never worked properly, amenities not refilled when needed. Staff interaction was minimal, but Housekeeping was excellent."
"I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The only problem was that I had no HOT water. It was barely tepid. However, the hotel gave me a $45 credit because of this problem. The bed was glorious: silky smooth sheets and firm mattress. The room was large and pretty. The hotel is attached to Grand Central Station so you don't even have to exit/enter through 42nd street should it rain or snow. Also, the $15 toward breakfast in their market was much appreciated. Were it not for the water problem (quite possibly unique to that room) I'd have rated the hotel a 5."
"loved the express elevator! beautiful remodel guest areas and lobby…, full of happy people… easy walk to broadway show and many affordable restaurants…Connelys Pub was great and best gelato at Venchi next door.
Our go to for that part of town… close to Carnegie , and great parking right there !"
"While the front desk staff was professional, my room could benefit from rehabbing. It was disappointing to see chipped paint on the inside of the room door, bathroom ceiling and walls, hair on a table behind the phone and a (built in?) stained bathtub.
*When I requested a different room I was informed the hotel was sold out although I witnessed another guest receiving a room change prior to my inquiry.
Additionally, when I informed the front desk staff of a broken A/C unit on both days, they immediately contacted the room engineers. The gentlemen were accommodating and professional, although these turned out to be temporary A/C fixes.
The lobby did have an inviting aesthetic which was in direct contrast to my room. While I enjoyed Broadway shows, unfortunately the hotel stay was the only thing that marred my brief trip.
In my opinion, although the hotel is conveniently located near several Broadway venues, the room rate was not justifiable considering the condition of the room."
"Great location, close to a lot of things including Central Park, rooftop restaurant and pool is pretty underrated in comparison to most places in the city. Love that they had lots of app versions for the tv and even casting was available. It’s a little thing that still a lot of hotels don’t offer."
"The pictures on the website do not give an accurate depiction of what the room is actually like. It is not modern, sleek, and clean.
The vacuum that the cleaning service used was out in the hallway and it looked like it was from the 70s or 80s. There is no way the floors are clean.
Additionally, there were men’s hairs in our bathroom from the first day. The bathroom mirror was pitting and terrible.
For this to be a 4-star hotel, they would need to do ALOT of renovations."
