"The location of Hotel Matilde is about as good as you can get as a tourist in Naples. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was about as good as you can get without having someone cook to order. There was one guest complaining excessively about the star rating, but it sounded like a whole lot of nit pickiness to me. There are some high end hotels around, but if you want super fancy, stay on the Amalfi coast and have fun with those prices. For our needs and expectations, I can’t complain about the value offered by the Hotel Matilde. "

"This hotel is in a convenient location across from the train station. It's quiet, clean, and has a wonderful restaurant at the top...food is creative, tasty, beautifully presented and their staff is warm and attentive. The rooms are modern, smallish, not very conducive to relaxing (no comfortable chair, no reading light except in bed, no space to lay out a suitcase except the bed itself). Hotel staff is variable, one lovely, helpful man behind the desk, but most are not so much. The neighborhood is busy, littered and noisy. Here, convenient location--and food!---is everything. "

"A wonderful hotel! It houses an incredible collection of original Italian design pieces from the 1950s. The first floor was designed by Gio Ponti and features original period furnishings! An incredible experience! These are pieces you’d find in the world’s finest museums. Breakfast is just as fantastic, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Castel dell’Ovo and chairs by Carlo de Carli! An incredible place with a fantastic staff. For design lovers, this is a must-experience."

"Not in a great part of town. Had to walk through some homeless camps to get to our restaurant but they do control who comes in and out of the hotel. Room felt a bit old and run down. My mattress pad had some gross spots that could be a sign of bed bugs before. "

"Room was large and well maintained - we (2 adults, one 12 year old child) stayed in room 1 (5 nights) and there was plenty of room. Decent breakfast offered in the mornings. Staff was helpful, but important to remember it is more of a b and b than a hotel so staff are not on generally site except in the mornings but are very responsive by WhatsApp. Location is excellent - right at a Metro station (Linea 1) and a short walk to all the popular spots in Centro Storico and the Spanish quarter. Also a 10-15 minute walk to the main train station straight down the street or one metro stop away. Would highly recommend for a stay in Naples. "
