"We had a lovely stay at the Old Schoolhouse. Our room and bathroom were spacious. Our hosts had homemade treats for us each day (an oatmeal raisin cookie our first day and a piece of spice cake the next). Our breakfast was at a large table with the other guests. We loved talking to them, several of whom were walking the length of Hadrian's wall. The breakfast itself was delicious and generous. We would absolutely stay here again."

"The room was clean and comfortable. Only issue was a very loose control on the shower which had to be in just the right position or it wouldn’t work. The staff were friendly and helpful and the bar had a good selection of drinks. It was also really nice to be able to walk down to the Tyne in about a minute. Definitely worth visiting."

The fine dining menu was more interesting and produced better results. Decent wine list. The bar staff had a difficult time taking orders and producing drinks. Allow a lot of time and patience for this activity. The television control was absolutely inscrutable, and the directions provided in the room manual were not correct. The telephone in the room was non-functional which is unacceptable in an establishment of this type. Yes, I would return."
