Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Airport/Liberty Station
10/10 Excellent
"When we arrived we were able to check in at 11:30am at no extra charge. Our first impression was of staff cleaning up after breakfast with chairs moved aside for cleaning, tables flipped over and they were wiping the table legs. I also saw a housekeeping staff member cleaning a room AND doing a painting touch-up on a door. They work hard! Our room smelled fresh and clean with plenty of space. It was a Wednesday which included a managers reception at no cost. The manager helped serve for the full two hours and they offered a full meal with crackers, cheese, soup, potatoes, salad and fixings as well as lemonade! For those who indulge there is also wine and beer included. There is coffee, tea and cold filtered water as well as board games to borrow in the lobby. The pool and hot tub are lovely and the location was wonderful with many paths along the water. There is also a new looking basketball court, and bocce ball pit, just ask the front desk for the ball! The fitness room is small and the treadmill TVs did not work without glitching but it was clean, had towels, a water station and overall did the job. The large laundry room for guests was great, it costs $3 in quarters for a wash or dry load. Their money change machine did not accept bills properly but the front desk can give you coins. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable stay with plenty of amenities, you won't go wrong here! I would stay again."
Ocean Beach Hotel
8/10 Good
"Really nice location right across from the beach. We stayed here as a family with little kids and the double Queen room was a bit small for 2 adults and 2 little kids. There was a mini fridge and coffee maker but no microwave which was inconvenient for us. The whole area gave more of a 20s party scene vibe. Lots of bars and nightlife. There were people smoking weed on the sidewalk below our room and homeless people but we were on the second floor and it didn’t bother us. There was also music playing pretty late in the surrounding area probably until midnight but it didn’t affect our sleep. Staff is available 24/7 and it was nice to have parking right by the beach. Lots of things within walking distance. Overall a good experience with the hotel but probably wouldn’t stay in that area again with a family. Would be great for surfers."
