“The Imperial Hotel was excellent in every way, the sea views were spot on. The staff were brilliant. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were very good. The only let down for me was not having Air Conditioning in the bedrooms, I did manage to source a pedestal fan, but without that I don't think I could have managed to shave or sleep. But otherwise The Imperial Hotel is highly recommended for anyone.”

Our stay was somewhat spoiled by drunken guests and their friends in the next room making excessive noise and shouting between 12.30-2.30 am, keeping us awake, security was called twice to try and resolve and did offer us a rom change in the middle of the night which was not practical. “Sub travel lodge. Worn out, dirty and £17 for a glass of wine and a bottle of beer, food is frozen brakes brothers style.. only saving grace was that the staff try hard. Owners and management should be ashamed that they make their staff operate in a such a hovel of a place. Premier Inn, while basic is 1000% nicer (and cleaner). No aircon, grubby room, dirty shower, grubby common areas, ordinary food, one ironing board in the whole place, broken lift, wet carpet in room and room smelt of cat...

“The hotel was excellent - a modern hotel with excellent furnishings. Housekeeping went out of their way to help. The serving staff were personable and helpful but the service at meal times was slow because there was not enough staff. Down side was the poor control of parking (cost £15 per night) and I witnessed one customer very irate because his car was blocked in. If the hotel charges to park a car, they are duty bound to control the parking - cars were parked outside of marked bays and...

“Disappointing stay at this hotel. The staff were a little unwelcoming and the service was not great. A beautiful location but this was let down by terrible parking, poor facilities and attention to detail that wasn’t there!!!! The spa was poor with an outlook to a wall!! The room was also disappointing with hair on my pillow and uncomfortable cheap pillows. I was very much looking forward to this stay but was very disappointed.”

“Great location right in town and newly renovated. We had room 23 and it was lovely and all new bathroom fixtures. Best room we stayed in our whole trip to England. Would definitely stay there again.”

“Checked out on arrival as the room had no air conditioning and the temperature of the room was at least 45 degrees, we were offered a fan but this would not have helped. The room was also really small, with an unpleasant smell but it was nicely furnished.Requested another room as apparently some rooms do have a.c. (The hallway leading to the room was a pleasant temperature) we were told they were fully booked (although Trivago showed 3 rooms available when we looked for somewhere else)...

“The Derwent Hotel itself was good and the hotel receptionist helped a lot when we had an issue with the Spa service. We went for my friend's birthday stayed on the Saturday night, had a great time and booked a surprise treatment for the Sunday morning, when she went down for the treatment it was not on their system and the receptionist was abrupt to my friend and asked if she had the right date, I went and showed all the information ( emails, when I phoned and the money that had been taken from...

“The staff was great, but the property needs some work. Our “bay view” was covered by scaffolding and absolutely filthy windows. Carpets were really shabby and the floorboards all creaked and were lumpy. ”
