"Hako Riero was wonderful. It was clean, stylish and very high tech. It had a 7 eleven in walking distance and very close to the Hakkne-Yumoto train station. I would absolutely stay here again.

"A very special high end experience. Staff is over the top kind. Dinner and breakfast were Michelin Star quality.
A luxury experience that exceeded our Four Seasons stays. And that says a lot"

"Excellent location. Rooftop terrace very good. I am too old to get up from futon and also would liked a chair in bedroom. Gora is best place if you have only limited time in Hakone and the property is only a very short walk to transport."

"The hotel is perfect, we loved it!!! The only thing we didn’t like was the breakfast that was very weird and the fact that there was nothing to eat around the hotel, only very bad and expensive restaurants "

"One of the best Japanese style hotel I ever stayed. Couldn’t find anything negative about the hotel or the room itself. A bit outside the main town but the shuttle service is quite regular. And if you don’t mind waking it only takes 15 minutes! I will definitely be coming back!"
"The room was spectacular! And the setting was so serene (the lobby, restaurant, and onsen were all immaculate). The dining experiences (both breakfast and dinner) were also very special - definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience with many new foods to try and impeccable service. My only (small) notes: there is no fitness center and no nearby running/walking/hiking (the property is located off a busy highway with no sidewalks), so if you are an active person, be prepared to do a lot of sitting around! We asked for trail recommendations but were told they didn't exist. We also found that the hotel staff, while very accommodating, were NOT knowledgeable about nearby activities, dining, etc. We really had to fend for ourselves in that regard. Perhaps it was the language barrier, but seemingly simple requests (like laundry service, or calling a taxi), they were not able to help us with. Also, note that the dining is private in individual dining rooms, but it is not IN your hotel room, if that's what you're looking for. All in all, I'd say this is an amazing retreat for 1 or 2 nights if you really just want to unplug and lay around in a beautiful space! "
"We really enjoyed our traditional Japanese room complete with our own private onsen. There is very little English spoken at the hotel but a lot of effort put into ensuring we were comfortable. It is a 20 minute walk from the train station but that was fine and a nice relaxing way to end the day. There is also a hotel shuttle but it is very crowded so we opted to walk instead. We booked the half board (breakfast and dinner) with our stay and it was absolutely fantastic. The quality of the food was second to none and each meal felt like a food experience. If you are looking for an authentic Japanese culinary experience with a little bit of elegance added in, go for the half board."
"Gorgeous stay- the staff are wonderfully attentive, the facilities are gorgeous, and breakfast/dinner is massive and delicious. I stayed in a Japanese style room with a shared bathroom, which only really entails a shared shower facility (the rooms have a basin and toilet), which was extremely comfortable. The onsen facilities (three available) are available most of the day, and are privately booked in 40-minute increments, which as a solo traveler I found pleasant to have my own space. There is a short walk from the bus station to the hotel, somewhat uphill, so accessibility wise I recommend for people with a comfortable mobility as I do not believe there is an elevator. I was given a lovely yukata for the stay, which I really enjoyed. I got half board, which was beyond worth it- the quantities for both breakfast and dinner are *massive* and absolutely delicious. Overall, my stay at Yushintei was a highlight of my trip and I hope to return next time I am in Japan/Hakone."
