"First of all, great location! Center of town between wharf and Alvarado street, we could walk pretty much everywhere. Plenty of shops and places to eat that were great. Upon arrival, Bell was very helpful. Walking in, the lobby had an off putting sewer smell that either went away or got accustomed to. Check in staff was not too friendly but did her job I guess. Stay: room and areas were keep well and felt very comfortable. There was a scheduled power outage that was not relayed until day of. Was not provided correct information that led to a less than comfortable night, however the property did make up for it. Parking was convenient. Overall, we had a very good stay at Portola. Staff could be a bit more friendly ."

"Loved my stay, it was close to so many stores, restaurants and the beach. Room was super comfy, not too big or small, bed was comfortable, for sure I will stay here whenever I come back and visit."

"The room was clean. Balcony few was decent. I was only on the 4th floor but was nice. Breakfast was very good and exceeded my expectations. The ready to order omelet station was very excellent."

"I had an amazing stay. The building itself was beautiful with high ceilings and friendly staff. There are plenty of places to eat close by and the hotel is not too far from Cannery Row. There is only street parking available but I had not problem finding parking nearby for overnight. If you like staying in hotels with charm and history I would highly recommend this location."
