"The room is somewhat dated. Maze like hallway to my room with 2 steps mid hallway to go up. Used the locked door common room with complimentary refill bottles for water, coffee / tea. Literally steps for the square. We walked to local sight seeing places eg Buckingham, the Mall, Big Ben and the Sherlock Holmes pub is across the street. Walk over to Hobson’s for some fish and chips! Waterloo Train was a 5 minute taxi ride away but the taxi driver took advantage of us using a long route. I don’t think he knew it was close by."

Bedford Hotel

Bedford Hotel

8/10 Good
"Lovely friendly check in, and an early check in as we were just going to leave our bags but our room was ready. Location of the hotel is great, about 15 mins walk from Kings Cross in one direction and the same to Covent Garden in another. Like a lot of London hotels there is no aircon in the rooms, unfortunately it was 36 degrees the day we arrived, they did send maintenance up to release the safety catches on our windows, which was a nice touch, even though it didn't make a lot of difference. Room was compact but well spec'd, bathroom was tired, a small bath (why not just put a shower) grout/mastik needed some TLC. The worst thing for me was the shower curtain, thought at first it was the narrow bath, then thought it was because it was a single curtain (not double to help stop it sticking) but actually all it came down to was the shower curtain rail had been mounted really badly, it was impossible to shower without it sticking to you. Shower was off the bath taps, so a micron of a turn meant boiling or freezing. There is aircon in the lobby and a water chiller, so we spent some time there cooling off. Lifts are small (4 people max) and slow. I would stay in this area again, but possibly not at this hotel, although the staff were really friendly and helpful."
