"The reason I selected this hotel was because it is next door to the Met. I will perhaps use the hotel again for that reason, despite my experience.
I arrived at the hotel around 9, knowing that check in was at 3pm. I just wanted to check my bag and go tour the city, since I had never been to New York before.
Normally when you arrive at the front desk you are greeted and welcomed, that didn't happen.
When I asked about things to see in the area they were somewhat hesitant, I asked the dooman on my way out, and got the same response.
When I returned from the opera the evening staff were so extremely nice and helpful. They are part of why I would come back to the hotel.
The condition of the room was not what I expected, wall paper peeling, ceiling had water damage, the AC unit had rust, and the toilet kept making sounds. I have pictures if you want to see them.
Despite some of the conditions the hotel has great charm, especially the lobby.The roof top restaurant and the Mexican restaurant were wonderful.
