"The shuttle service was excellent. Lots of food options, just make reservations early. The property was huge with lots of amenities. Best restaurant was La Boheme and Cappricunio. Everyone was so helpful and welcoming. Make sure you keep American dollars on you to tip and pay. Also don't go shopping in Playa del Carmen because it's so expensive, especially if you a tourist!!! Stay on the resort and bring everything you need."

"We had such a beautiful and memorable stay at this hotel. The architecture and atmosphere were so breathtaking that it truly felt like being in another world The service was exceptional — every staff member was kind, welcoming, and professional. The food was amazing with many delicious options every day. One of the most special parts of this place was the incredible nature surrounding the hotel and the beautiful animals living there. It made the experience feel unique and peaceful. We created wonderful family memories here that we will never forget. Everything about this stay felt magical, and we truly hope to come back again someday."

"There’s a reason why my husband and I have travelled to this resort three times! Secrets Akumal checks off all of our boxes in terms of service, location, food, and amenities. The staff are wonderful, friendly and attentive, and our room was always spotless with turn down service at night! Snorkelling is also big on our list and we have seen everything from sting rays, turtles, barracudas and many different kinds of reef fish. The resort grounds are lush and beautiful with many lovely flowers and palms. Each path has something different to look forward to! We’d like to give a huge shout- out to Baltazar at the Oceana restaurant for his attentiveness, and for making our last dinner on the resort a memorable one! He truly went above and beyond. If you travel to Secrets Akumal, you will dream about going back!"

"Pros: - Even though the buffet choices were not like other bigger resorts, the food quality and taste was good. - The resort is in a residential area. So you can walk around, see some stores and beaches. Cons: - It is surprisingly small if you’re used to larger resorts. - If you are looking for that typical carribean beach resort experience, don’t stay here. It doesn’t have a beach you could swim in. It’s basically for kids. An enclosed shallow section full of stones and seaweed. - Each of their few restaurants are closed for a couple nights of the week. So your dining options aren’t a lot on any given night. - The shows aren’t that good if you compare them to some other bigger resorts you’ve stayed in. - They have just one pool and another tiny one if you upgrade to their preferred club. All in all, I think this resort is more for people with kids and those who want a quiet place to just relax."
