We spent 10 days at El Cid and will *definitely* return. Staff--Every single employee went above and beyond to be amazing. Servers, concierge and desk staff, housekeeping, it didn't matter--we didn't encounter a single employee who wasn't helpful. Activities--I was worried that 10 days would be too long, since we only planned four days or off-resort excursions, but at no point were we ever bored. My kids (9 and 11) loved the variety of nightly shows and pool activities. Amenities--The pools were lovely and well-maintained. The El Cid pool was perfect and high-energy for families and the Ventus pool is more peaceful. One of our favorite spots to visit was a small fenced-in lagoon where we could see a small crocodile named Bradum, his turtle friends, and colorful iguanas and monitor lizards. Food--We were able to get dinner reservations at four of the restaurants and for the rest of our meals, we ate the the food court and buffet restaurants. We liked the options, variety, and quality; by the end of the trip, I’d rarely eaten the same thing twice. Heads up: If you’re looking for a proper beach vacation, be aware: the beaches are unusable due to Sargassum. This has *nothing* to do with the resort. We got to enjoy the gorgeous water farther out by snorkeling in the reef and visiting Xel Ha, a natural eco-waterpark. We didn't do the Platinum Club pitch and I don't regret it at all. I talked to people who are members, but if you don't visit annually, it's not worth it.

Wonderful experience

The hotel seemed understaffed this time. Although this was a second time to this property and we did have a good time. Loved the pickleball courts! They only had one restaurant open for lunch which is the market. At the buffets they should have more variety or change in menu everyday compared to other resorts.

Great stay!

My stay was overshadowed by a serious security incident and an unacceptable response from resort management. In the middle of the night, an intoxicated man repeatedly knocked on my hotel room door, claiming to be “housekeeping.” He kept returning to my door, making me feel genuinely unsafe. I immediately called security and was told someone would come right away. When no one arrived, I called a second time. It took approximately 20 minutes before anyone finally responded. What was even more concerning was that the person who arrived was not a security officer, but a waiter from one of the resort’s restaurants. He told me he didn’t see anyone and left without conducting a meaningful investigation or offering any reassurance. During one of my calls, I was also told that no one else had complained about the incident, as if that somehow made my experience less valid. The following morning, I went to the front desk and requested to speak with the manager. I had to wait until 10:00 a.m. because no manager was available earlier. I asked that they review the security camera footage and showed them a photo of what appeared to be the man’s ear print on my door after he had been listening outside my room. I was then informed there were no security cameras covering the guest room hallways—only the main entrance. Rather than taking this incident seriously, the manager repeatedly insisted that the resort is “a safe place.” When I asked what they were going to do about the situation, I
