"Xcaret was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! We came to celebrate my son’s 10th birthday, and overall, it was such a memorable experience. The resort is HUGE with so much to see and do, and honestly, we weren’t able to experience everything. But what we did experience was breathtaking. The food was great, the amenities were amazing, and there is truly something for everyone. There were a few things that unfortunately left a bad taste in my mouth. Since this trip was specifically for my son’s 10th birthday, I asked about a birthday cake and/or decorations. I wasn’t expecting anything extravagant and was even willing to pay if it wasn’t complimentary. I mentioned that we were celebrating his birthday when we checked in, but nothing was offered or explained. On his actual birthday, I called to ask again about a cake, and still nothing really came of it. The following day, I called again and asked if we could get a cake, and we were told to just order a dessert through room service. We were given two empty piñatas, which was basically the only birthday acknowledgment we received. Thankfully, I packed a few little decorations for the room because I wanted him to feel special regardless. And honestly, I’m glad I did! Another issue was the lack of instructions. After we declined an upgrade, we weren’t given any information about how restaurant reservations worked or how to navigate the resort. It was basically like, “Okay, move along.” The resort is SO huge that we didn’t even"

"We just spent 7 unforgettable days at the Riu Tequila, and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. As first-timers to an all-inclusive resort, we were a bit hesitant and didn’t want to take any chances on a place we might not enjoy. But honestly, it turned out to be one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome—their warmth and attentiveness truly set the tone for the week. The property itself is gorgeous, impeccably maintained, and surrounded by lush greenery and wildlife that make it feel like a true tropical oasis. We had plenty of choices when it came to meals, with a fantastic variety of food available throughout our stay. If there is one minor area for improvement, it would be the desserts; while there were plenty of options to choose from, elevating the quality of the sweet treats would make the dining experience a 10 out of 10 across the board. Otherwise, we were never short of things to do. The daily activities and evening entertainment were an absolute blast, keeping us smiling, laughing, and thoroughly entertained the entire trip. Great staff, great entertainment, and a property that exceeds expectations. We came home relaxed, happy, and already dreaming of our next trip back!"

"Check in was relatively easy. We were then directed to a gentleman who explained the complex and special events available. We were certain that it would be an aggressive push to join the Vacation Club, but he was OK with me saying we would think about it and were not approached again. As far as levels of rooms, the Premium room included a bottle of wine, chocolate covered strawberries, robes, and top shelf liquor. We are beer drinkers and don’t drink wine. If you are a liquor or wine drinker, it’s probably worth it. I’m not sure what all the complaints are about the food at the buffet. We never went hungry and there were always enough choices to satisfy us. Service in the buffet was incredible. Very friendly and accommodating. It felt wrong not tipping the workers because they worked very hard, but it’s not feasible to tip three times a day for 7 days. Besides the buffet, there are Mexican and Italian restaurants. We enjoyed the Italian restaurant twice. The spinach soup and lasagna were excellent. The service was top notch. There is also a snack bar that serves burgers and tacos. When we finally got to the pool for the first time, around 5:00 pm, the pool was very warm. Both pools sit in the sun all day. But until about noon, they are very nice and exhilarating. And there was often a nice breeze after getting out that was very refreshing."
